Rumor has it that the new hot-hatch could go on sale in North America as early as late this spring. That’s great news for Honda fans, who have been eagerly awaiting the new hatchback’s release for years. Truly, the new 2017 Honda Civic Type R will be worth seeing. It will feature a 306-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission.

Not only is that plenty of power, but the new Type R will also be 15 pounds lighter than the base-level Civic hatchback. In addition, the North American 2017 Honda Civic Type R boasts 38 percent stronger torsional rigidity and is 38 percent lighter than the European Type R. It’s also expected to come with three driving modes – similar to the European model – including Comfort, Sport and +R.

Inside the cabin, the 2017 Honda Civic Type R is expected to be dressed to the nines with plenty of luxurious details. It will be standard with Apple CarPlay; Android Auto; 7.0-inch touchscreen; a 540-watt, 12-speaker audio system; leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift boot and much more.
