Will the 2018 Honda CR-V Hybrid come to the U.S.?

The crossover SUV segment only continues to grow in popularity in the U.S. and for good reason. Not only are crossover SUVs powerful and fuel-efficient, but the segment boasts stellar cargo capacity and high-tech cabins. In fact, the crossover SUVs are getting even more fuel-efficient thanks to an ever-growing category – the crossover SUV hybrid.

Many manufacturers already have vehicles for this segment, including the 2017 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Honda recently debuted a new model that will potentially compete directly with the RAV4 and other competitors. Introducing the 2018 Honda CR-V Hybrid. Honda debuted the stunning new crossover SUV hybrid at the Shanghai auto show earlier this month. Best of all, the new model could be headed to the U.S. market.

When is the 2018 Honda CR-V Hybrid release date?

At the show Honda revealed few details about the new Hybrid, except that it will utilize a two-motor hybrid system. Honda has also revealed that the 2018 CR-V Hybrid is expected to go on sale in China later this year. The auto marker has not hinted at a time frame for the U.S. market, but our guess is sometime early next year.

Could the 2018 Honda CR-V Hybrid get the same powertrain used on the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid? Currently, the 2017 Honda Accord is equipped with a 212-hp, 2.0-liter Atkinson Cycle 4-cylinder engine and electric drive motor rated at 135 kilowatts. Or, Honda could surprise us with a totally new engine and motor set-up. What do you think will be under the hood of the brand new 2018 Honda CR-V Hybrid?
